Third edition of the International Festival of Opera of the Callao

A real holiday of the bel canto will be lived in April in Peru, when Alejandro Granda del Callao carries out the third edition of the International Festival of Opera. Aurelio Loret de Mola, president of the association in charge of the international event, supported that “ahora we put ourselves the long pants ”, with the premiere of two productions of the first musical and artistic level: Norm, of Vincenzo Bellini, and The favorite, of Gaetano Donizetti.

The festival chalaco of the opera takes the name of Alejandro Granda (1898-1962), the famous singer who heads the list of four big tenors that has given Peru to the world.

And Loret de Mola does not doubt that the international festival is already in the big leagues; that the Peruvian lovers of this genre, considered to be an art where all the arts converge, already do not need to take a plane and to stay at the most expensive hotels of Europe and the United States to see and to listen to opera of the first level: there is one that appears in the first port of Peru.

Poetry of the first level

His affirmation is based on two points: on the one hand, the names of the artists who will take part of the works, as prestigious soprano Italian Lucia Aliberti –que they promote like the successor, for the color and vocal stamp, of Maria Callas – or the Russian tenor in ascent, Dmitry Korchak, winner of the Operalia, that Plácido Domingo organizes. They come to Peru “por the highest quality that exists in these productions ”.

On the other hand, with only three festivals, “hacemos the most important opera in the hemisphere ”, emphasizes Loret de Mola. It, he tells, recognizes it as the arrival of an expert public that Columbus of Buenos Aires comes to the Callao from the theater, or to the opera in Santiago de Chile or that of Sao Paulo.

“Lo that we do is to coincide with the dates of the world circuit, because we speak about very important figures that come to Peru, which keys of the opera present to themselves in theaters in the world, like Scala of Milan, Royal Opera House of London or Metropolitan of New York ”, Loret adds.

Loret of Mola tells that the periods of 2008 and 2009 they were with full functions in the theater Alejandro Granda, who has turned into the principal stage of the Peruvian poetry. And that the role of the Peruvians is the most important. The whole production, logistics, wardrobe and scenery, band and choirs are Peruvian.

Due to the reached success and the confidence of the public and sponsors (private enterprises and the regional government of the Callao), the fact is that there has happened this following step, which is to present two works, with three functions of each of them.

  • On February 17, 1653: Arcangelo Corelli, musician and Italian composer is born. Grosso contributed to the crystallization of the concerto. The transfer of his remains was comparable to the funeral procession of a big sovereign one.

  • On February 13, 1976: the soprano Lily Pons dies. A voice crystalline and extended towards the sharp one, joined a graceful figure and personal friendliness, they constitute the props of the formidable success of Lily Pons. An exceeded publicity helped to do of her almost a sacred monster of the singing; so much it was so in the decade of '40 went so far as to consider her to be the best singer of the world.

  • On February 12, 1924: there is released "Rhapsody In Blue" of George Gershwin. The history begins with a prologue ambientado in a bar.

Astor Piazzolla

Astor Piazzolla

Piazzolla represents one of the rarest cases in which an author is unrolled of extraordinary form so much in the world of the popular music, with his tangos of Buenos Aires, as in that of the refined or classic music. Called symphonic tango created a new genre renewing this way of decisive form the tango. If it is considered that the work of Piazzolla begins in 1946 with The desbande and concludes in 1990, with Him grand tango and with Five tango sensations, that the same year records with the quartet of ropes Kronos, it is deduced that it covers 46 years, space in which it produced not less than eight hundred works.

Carlos Gardel

Carlos Gardel

Carlos Gardel is perhaps the biggest myth of the Argentina. His artistic skill, his incomparable talent as singer of the suburbs of Buenos Aires, his musical instinct to compose some of the biggest tangos of all the times, his marvelous character, his fanaticism for the careers, have led him to being equalled perhaps only by another legend of the country of the south of the Silver: Eva Perón. Nevertheless, while all political activity can be worth of objections, comments and mistrust on the part of certain sectors of the population, the figure of Carlos Gardel is erected as universally for all the Argentinians and the followers of the tango across the world.

Juan José Mosalini: the soul of the bandoneón beats in Paris

The music and the dance of the River Plate came to the margins of the Seine more than one century ago, seducing the French, but Juan José Mosalini lives through the tango now a real explosion in France, of the hand of some of his contemporary teachers, like the bandoneonista. In an interview with the AFP in Paris, before traveling to Argentina, where it will offer two concerts, and from which it will set off then in the direction of China, Mosalini evoked "passionate and unconditional" relation between Paris and the tango and between he and the bandoneón, which came to his hands when it was a chiquilín.
